Twenty Norfolk businesses have pledged support to Norfolk Wildlife Trust as Anniversary Champions as the Trust celebrates its 90th year protecting Norfolk’s wildlife and wild places.
These Anniversary Champions – which include the Eastern Daily Press, Mustard TV, Empresa, Swallowtail Print, Clapham & Collinge, UK Power Networks, Woodforde’s Norfolk Ales and Herbert Woods – have committed to supporting NWT spread the word about the importance of nature and engage local communities in a range of ways, from sponsoring events to funding vital conservation projects.
Chief Executive of Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Brendan Joyce said: “We are thrilled to have the support of these local businesses and invite others to join in the celebration too. Many of these businesses have supported NWT for many years but are giving even more support in our special year because they recognise how vital nature is to the wider wellbeing of Norfolk.”
Peter Antoniou from Swarovski Optik said: “Swarovski Optik has for many years been committed to protecting wildlife in Norfolk and encouraging people to get out and enjoy this beautiful county through our support of Norfolk Wildlife Trust. We’re happy to do that bit more to connect more people with Norfolk’s nature by becoming Anniversary Champions.”
Rob Woods from IT company, Empresa said: “We have helped NWT develop its exciting
90th anniversary website, which has a timeline of the Trust’s 90 years plus films and articles exploring their work. There are many ways for people to learn about and get connected to Norfolk’s wildlife and the new website is a great place to start!”
In 2016 NWT reaches the 90th anniversary of its commitment to the conservation of Norfolk’s wildlife: a commitment expressed in land acquisition, advocacy, education, habitat restoration and a passionate belief that the wildlife of Norfolk deserves a healthy landscape in which to thrive and that the people of Norfolk deserve the same.
Matt Rudling, customer services director at UK Power Networks, said: "UK Power Networks has had a strong relationship with Norfolk Wildlife Trust for a number of years. As stewards of some of our most important natural environments, they play an extremely valuable role in enhancing the lives of the communities in our region. We are delighted to support them during their 90th anniversary."
Lin Whitehead from Clapham & Collinge said: “The partners and staff of Clapham & Collinge are proud to support the Trust during its 90th Anniversary celebrations. We are inspired by the hard work of the past and the Trust’s determination for the future, to preserve Norfolk as a beautiful and healthy environment for all creatures, great and small.”
Amanda Walker from Herbert Woods said: “As Herbert Woods also celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2016 we are delighted to join NWT as Anniversary Champions to celebrate what is certain to be a very special year. Norfolk's unique wildlife is part of what attracts so many visitors to the region and it is important that we work together to protect this for future generations.”
Rupert Farquharson, Managing Director of Woodforde’s Norfolk Ales said: “Woodforde’s has a long-standing relationship with Norfolk Wildlife Trust having raised more than £7,500 from sales of its bird-inspired brew, Once Bittern. Equally passionate about preserving what is unique about Norfolk, the brewery was proud to become one of the charity’s 90th anniversary Champions.”
