Bring all of the family along for a fun-packed day out at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s
Weeting Heath on Monday 2 May. Try something a bit different with a wild variety of activities including identifying moths from the moth trap, a guided walk and children’s crafts.
Taking place at Weeting Heath Visitor Centre from 10am – 4pm, this event will give you and the family the opportunity to learn about the wonderful wildlife of the Brecks whilst having plenty of fun. The summer warden will lead a guided walk to explore the reserve, plus have a go at making bird feeders to take home and ID moths from the special moth trap. There will also be cake, plant and second-hand natural history books stalls to raise money for Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
The
Breckland Local Group of NWT will be there to tell people more about their programme of events to make the most of living in this fantastic environment. And NWT will talk about ‘Wings over the Brecks’ which, through a carefully located webcam reveals birds on the nest as part of the Breaking New Ground project.
Entry and on-site parking is free. For adult non-members of NWT there is a small charge to enter the nature reserve and hides of £4.25 including Gift Aid.
NWT Weeting Heath summer warden, Sophie Harrison said: “The best place to learn about wildlife is out in the wild and this open day is a chance to explore our fantastic Breckland wildlife. Discover the unique Brecks heath habitat, the rare and peculiar stone curlew, and the many species of birds, invertebrates and plants which live here.”
