With
Cley Marshes visitor centre as its hub, Cley Calling will host events around the village of Cley Next-the-Sea and will showcase a range of creative responses to the natural environment. It runs until Sunday 10 July.
NWT Ambasssador Ben Garrod said: “Cley Calling is a fantastic celebration of all the Norfolk coast has to offer: our fascinating history from the time of mammoths and Neanderthals, right up to present day with contemporary art, music and theatre. We’ve got hands-on activities to inspire a sense of wonder and encourage people of all ages to engage with wildlife, nature and the creative responses it inspires.”
Headline talks will be given by TV personalities Nicholas Crane (4 July) and Mike Dilger (8 July). There will be plenty for families including a hands-on session with Ben and his fossils on Sunday 3 July, children’s theatre “
Flying the Nest” (Sat 9 July) and “
Leaping Frog” (10 Sunday) and opportunities for children to experience the wildlife on the nature reserve.
Plenty for music fans too. Folk singer
Rozi Plain (7 July) will be supported by Norwich-based singer-songwriter Milly Hirst. English folk guitarist
Chris Wood (8 July) and choir
Big Sky will perform at Cley Church (9 July) which launches visual arts exhibition Cley16. The week of events concludes in the church with a concert by
North Norfolk Sinfonia playing music inspired by birdlife.
Tangram Theatre (5 July) will perform their witty musical show about
Charles Darwin. There will also be an art workshop, bird walks, beach clean and marine fun. For more information and to book tickets go to
