A wild morning in Reffley – this Saturday!

Monday 11 July, 2016

Join Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Reffley Community Association and the Gaywood Valley Conservation Group for a fun packed wildlife morning of walks, wild craft activities, pond dipping, minibeast hunting, bird box making and much, much more.

On Saturday 16 July, 10am to 1pm, come along to Reffley Community Hall and Reffley Spring  Wood (Reffley Lane, Reffley, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 3EQ) and go wild! There is no need to book, just turn-up and join in. Free entry (small charge for some activities e.g. bird box making).

NWT Living Landscape officer, Gemma Walker said: “This event is a great opportunity for people to find out about the wildlife on their doorstep and to learn about how they can get involved in conservation in the Gaywood Valley. Wildlife we might see includes song thrushes, chiff chaffs, greater spotted woodpeckers, speckled wood butterflies and meadow grasshoppers.”

The event is part of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s two-year project County Wildlife Action, made possible by National Lottery players thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), to work with local communities to visit, enjoy and learn about the wildlife on more than 100 local sites. Reffley Spring Wood will be surveyed this summer by community surveyors, to monitor the flora of the site. This information will feed into a 20 year management plan currently being written and which ensure that the woodland is protected, enhanced and enjoyed for future generations.
