Volunteer
Learn conservation skills, share your passion for nature, meet new people, immerse yourself in local wild spaces – and help protect Norfolk’s wildlife for the future.
Across the county, more than 400 people give us their spare minutes, hours, and days on beaches, under trees, among meadows and in communities, schools, and offices.
Our volunteers are vital to what we do, in so many ways: leading a wild walk in the woods, checking on our sheep and cattle, or helping us to run fun family activities.
We’ll provide full training, and for many roles no prior experience is needed. From one-off days to a regular weekly commitment, you can give as much or as little time as you like.
As a volunteer, you’ll be an NWT ambassador in action: inspiring and enthusing others, often as the public face of our work.
Wildlife is for everyone - read our Inclusive Employers Statement
We value respect, integrity, trust and responsibility.
We want our people to be as diverse as nature itself and so we particularly encourage applications from those currently under-represented within our sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities.
We welcome people of all backgrounds and levels of experience with nature, and continually strive to improve our culture and practices.
We are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities.
Please let us know if you require any adjustment processes to make our recruitment process more accessible.
Work experience
If you are interested in learning more about a career in conservation or wildlife, spending a week's work experience visiting a selection of our reserves and visitor centres, and learning more about what we do could be just the thing. We usually run our work experience weeks in July each year. If you are interested, take a look at our work experience page.
Local Groups
Join an NWT Local Group near you to raise awareness of our work, inspire a love of our natural world and raise money to protect it.
Other ways to volunteer
If you would like to do some "hands-on" conservation work, and there are no suitable live NWT vacancies, why not join one of the many volunteer groups who work on our reserves all over Norfolk.
