This little gem of a nature reserve is known for its delightful display of spring cowslips, and a surprisingly diverse array of habitats and plants for such a small area.
Location
NWT Lolly Moor is 2km south of East Dereham. Leave East Dereham on the Toftwood to Westfield road and travel for 2km. The nature reserve is well hidden! Park on the left just before passing under the electricity pylon.
Entrance is from the roadside via a path through scrub and over a stile.

Spring and summerAbout the reserve
This small nature reserve is mostly deep, water-logged peat, known as ‘valley mire’, bordered by rough grassland and wet carr woodland.
In spring, Lolly Moor lights up with a display of cowslips. Our annual mowing has helped these attractive pale-yellow flowers to grow from just six plants in 1980, to the many thousands blooming each spring now. Lolly Moor is also home to a range of orchids, with a number of different species recorded here.
