Thorpe Marshes,

Located in Thorpe St Andrew, just outside Norwich. To visit the reserve, walk along Whiltlingham Lane, at the traffic light junction with Yarmouth Road. At the end of this short road there is a footbridge over the railway line which gives access to the reserve. There is no parking on Whitlingham Lane. About the event

Explore NWT Thorpe Marshes, part of the Norfolk Broads, yet on the edge of Norwich in Thorpe St Andrew. It's a charming mix of grazed and ungrazed marshes, ditches and the open water of St Andrew's Broad. Join local naturalist, Chris Durdin, for a meander and discover the reserve’s wildlife. Bring binoculars and a camera if you have them.

Meet at the pedestrian railway bridge at the end of Whitlingham Lane, NR7 0QA, which is accessed from the A1242 Yarmouth Road (not from Trowse) and is diagonally opposite Thunder Lane. Please also note that there is no parking on Whitlingham Lane.

Dogs

On a lead

Visitors with dogs are invited to walk along the permissive path, keeping dogs on leads to avoid disturbance to stock and wildlife.

What to bring

Please wear sturdy footwear and bring binoculars if you have them.

Please be advised to take caution when walking on a site with open water and ensure that you always remain on the designated paths. Biting insects can be present at certain times of the year and you may choose to apply insect repellent as a precaution. In warmer weather, you may wish to bring a hat, sun cream and water.
