Help us to improve species diversity of grassland areas by moving and spreading green hay.
About the event
Using ‘green hay’ to enhance meadows is a proven technique to improve the species diversity of grassland areas. In this session we will be moving, and spreading, green hay that has been cut from flower-rich areas. The aim is to improve diversity by adding seeds onto the areas we aim to enhance.
No previous experience necessary. Tools and equipment provided. N.B. this is a physical task involving raking and bagging of green hay, often in hot conditions – please be aware of that and dress suitably and take precautions suitable to the weather e.g. sun hat, plenty of water.
